You might wonder “how does this exactly prevent the online search engine from crawling the site?”. Well, here comes the technical stuff…

StealthyLinks routes hyperlinks to questionable websites with a unique and sophisticated link technology. Because of this, it forwards real people to the location using javascript. But because this URL is blocked by our robots.txt provisioning, it prevents online search engine robots from crawling it and indexing the destination link.  The robots are reminded to NOT CRAWL and NOT INDEX the web link because of the ‘nofollow’ characteristic of the StealthyLink-link. However, if a known robot disobeys and make a decision to crawl the StealthyLink-link, our codified safeguards are ready to intervene and prevent this from happening. How? By serving up blank web pages (i.e 403 Unacceptable) rather than rerouting to the destination URL.

But this is not where we rest! Our team is consistently boosting our algorithms and ‘bot profiles’ with a clever mix of blacklists to determine what crawlers, bots and search engine don’t play by our rules; and then we’ll mess with their digital heads 🙂
