Online Extortion Scheme against Physicians
CASE STUDY
Page1.me’s founder and licensed private investigator, Michael Roberts, uncovered an alleged extortion racket against physicians, medical clinics and med-spas. The evidence he gathered has been provided to both federal and state law enforcement. An Iowa prosecutor has initiated criminal proceedings against one of the operatives and indicated Ed Magedson, the owner of RipOffReport.com, in the same crimes. If convicted, they may face up to 25 years in prison for extortion and other crimes. This is good news for RipOffReport.com victims, but the case is expected to drag out for several years.
The alleged scheme is simple — a fake complaint is filed against the targeted Physician and posted on RipoffReport.com. Then 4 to 6 weeks later, after the online complaint has risen to the first page of Google, one of RipoffReport’s sales people will contact the Physician’s office and offer to turn the “negative into positive”; for $10,000.00 or more.
Google’s De-indexing of Ripoffreport.com Search Results?
We are hoping that the criminal case against RipOffReport.com and its operatives will persuade Google, and other search engines, to completely de-index RipOffReport.com from search engine results. However, this will probably not happen until at least 2016 or 2017.
